Our History

  • Created in June 2023 as a support group for the victims of the Nicolas Maduro regime, Stichting Venezolaanse Vluchtelingen was born from an idea proposed by the lawyer David Caceres Martinez, who was then an asylum seeker and has evolved to fill the gap and the critical need to represent the community of Venezuelan victims and exiles of the Maduro regime as a civil organization with a voice and legal personality in the kingdom of the Netherlands.
  • On January 3, the statutes were signed in the city of Lelystad
  •  January 24, registration with the Chamber of Commerce of the Netherlands was completed.

Stichting Venezolaanse Vluchtelingen since the period of creation has carried out significant demonstrations and incidents where the victims of crimes against humanity that occurred in Venezuela have been allowed to express themselves and be heard before international organizations and prominent institutions denouncing THE PROBLEM and promoting THE SOLUTION (See below )

It has also allowed its supporters and volunteer work team to participate in meetings with other NGOs that have consultative status for training, forums and also specialist panels.

Stichting Venezolaanse Vluchtelingen has participated in each of the hearings that have been held at the International Criminal Court in relation to the Venezuela I case and maintains close collaboration with the Victims Participation and Reparation Section of the ICC for file introduction processes.

Currently Stichting Venezolaanse Vluchtelingen  is a candidate for registration into the European Parliament and aspires to become an NGO with UN Consultative Status in the coming years.

OUR LOGO, THE UNIVERSAL LOGO FOR HUMAN RIGHTS

More than 15,300 submissions from 190 countries, an international jury together with the Internet community selected a universal symbol for human rights. The human rights logo and any related materials can now be used by everyone free of charge for the promotion and protection of human rights.

On September 23, 2011, the Human Rights Logo was unveiled in New York. The winning design is by Predrag Stakic from Serbia and combines the shape of a hand with that of a bird. It is now available to everyone at no cost as an open source product for the promotion and protection of human rights. It was adapted with the colors yellow, blue and red by Carlos Alaba and with the seven stars that seeks to represent a Venezuela that opposes the criminal regime of Nicolas Maduro and wants Human Rights to be restored by David Caceres.

THE PROBLEM

Venezuela's refugee crisis is one of the world's greatest humanitarian challenges. Millions of Venezuelans have fled the country due to the political and social crisis that has caused serious shortages of food, medicine, high levels of inflation, destruction of the infraestructure and  ecosystem, loss of sovereignty due to treaties and agreements with externa political influences, foreign military presence mainly by Russia, China and Cuba and paramilitary armed forces, added to the repression, social control and political persecution by the Nicolás Maduro regime and the violence that results from all these factors.

This situation has led a large number of Venezuelans to seek refuge in neighboring countries and beyond.

Venezuelan refugees often face difficulties in their integration process, including language barriers, discrimination, lack of access to basic services and labor exploitation, often face difficulties in their integration process, including language barriers, discrimination, lack of access to basic services and labor exploitation.

Venezuela's refugee crisis has generated tensions in receiving countries, as well as challenges for health, education and social services systems. Additionally, it has sparked concerns about security and increased crime in some areas.

Efforts to address this crisis include regional coordination between affected countries, as well as humanitarian assistance provided by international organizations.

Furthermore, the crisis in Venezuela has received less media attention and international response compared to other humanitarian crises worldwide, such as the conflicts in Syria and Yemen, or the refugee crisis in Myanmar and Bangladesh.

Due to the political nature of the Venezuelan crisis, which has generated divisions in the international community and has made it difficult to adopt a unified stance. Furthermore, the complexity of the crisis makes it difficult to identify clear and effective solutions.

Despite this, the situation in Venezuela has received attention from international organizations, such as the UN and the OAS, as well as various governments and NGOs that have provided humanitarian assistance and support to Venezuelan refugees who have fled the country.

However, the magnitude of the crisis and the complexity of its causes make finding lasting solutions a considerable challenge.

The international community has called for increased humanitarian aid and seeking political solutions to address the underlying causes of the crisis in Venezuela.

The exodus of Venezuelan refugees has been one of the largest displacements of people in recent world history and has had a significant impact on the world in political, economic and social terms.

    THE SOLUTION

At first point It is crucial to provide support and protection to the millions of Venezuelan refugees who have fled the country in search of safety. This implies social and economic integration in the receiving countries, as well as access to basic services, education and employment.

Subsequently, it is mandatory to raise awareness among these millions of victims and  exiled Venezuelans regarding respect for human rights: It is essential to guarantee respect for human rights and the rule of law in Venezuela, including the cessation of political repression, the release of political prisoners and the end impunity for human rights abuses.

At the same time, it is important to raise awareness for spaces for political dialogue and negotiations: It is essential to facilitate an inclusive political dialogue between the Venezuelan governmen  and the people (including exiled Venezuelans) with neutral international mediation and without the influence of external countries or powers, to seek peaceful and democratic solutions to the crisis. Addressing political and social tensions in Venezuela to prevent the outbreak of a large-scale civil conflict. This involves promoting national reconciliation, political tolerance and building trust between different political and social actors.

Train our venezuelan refugees  for future participation in economic reforms and reconstruction: Significant economic reforms are needed to stabilize the Venezuelan economy and address hyperinflation, food shortages, and the humanitarian crisis. This could include reforming the tax system, promoting foreign investment, economic diversification and rebuilding key infrastructure.

Once we can meet these objectives, we can see an improvement in the crisis.
