The surveillance and control tactics of the Nicolás Maduro regime know no borders.
The Monitoring of Venezuelans abroad by the regime of Nicolás Maduro Moros raises serious questions about the security and freedom of Venezuelan citizens outside the borders of our country.
Background:
Since 2020, the Netherlands, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has been publicly revealing reports indicating that the Venezuelan military intelligence agency, DGCIM, is providing special training to intelligence officers posted abroad in Venezuelan embassies.
Modus Operandis:
This same report reveals that Venezuelan officials, under the guise of diplomats, are deployed in countries of strategic interest such as the Netherlands. However, behind their diplomatic facades, these individuals receive specialized training from the DGCIM.
These officials are tasked with monitoring Venezuelans residing abroad. This tracking raises serious concerns about the privacy and security of the Venezuelan diaspora.
Current situation with the Activists of the Stichting Venezolaanse Vluchtelingen:
Since 2023, by virtue of the hearings that occurred in The Hague, Netherlands, both in the International Criminal Court and in the International Court of Justice, where we had the honor of having the special participation of our organization Stichting Venezolaanse Vluchtelingen, promoting and empowering victims to defend their rights and seek reparation for the damage caused, it resulted that the authorities of the Venezuelan embassy in the Netherlands will demonstrate a negative interest towards our foundation through their actions.
We have reported to the Police of the Kingdom of the Netherlands practices perpetrated by agents of the embassy of the Nicolás Maduro Moros regime that constitute crimes according to the Dutch penal code (WvSr) such as the following:
1) Situations where human rights activists from our organization have been photographed by embassy agents without their consent, which shows that we are targets of interest for "espionage."
2) What is even more alarming is that we have also reported cases of "doxing" by telecommunications media related to the regime. A practice in which an individual's personal information is publicly disclosed without that individual's consent.
3) This entire situation is part of "incitement to hatred" in Venezuela provoked towards our activists by the regime, labeling us as "terrorists" and "traitors to the country." Which has triggered countless "threats" and "insults" towards our work team.
These actions not only violate the privacy and security of Venezuelan activists abroad, but also generate an environment of intimidation and persecution that undermines the fundamental values of freedom, respect for human rights and that has exposed scrutiny. to which all dissidents and activists in the Netherlands are subjected.
