Date: February 6, 2024.

Subject: Regarding the Statement by the EEAS press team on the ban on opposition politicians in Venezuela.

Dear Members of the Diplomatic Service of the European Union:

Mr. Pedro Stano

Mr. Daniel Puglis

We write to you on behalf of the NGO Venezolaanse Vluchteingen, based in the Netherlands, to express our sincere gratitude for your continued concern and attention regarding the political and social situation in Venezuela. We deeply value your firm and supportive stance in relation to recent events in our country, especially with regard to the Supreme Court's ratification of the disqualification of opposition politicians.

As an organization dedicated to supporting and defending the rights of Venezuelan refugees and victims, we fully share your perspective that these actions only serve to continue to undermine democracy and the rule of law in Venezuela, which in turn contributes to further deterioration. of the humanitarian situation in our country. It is encouraging to know that the European Union remains vigilant and committed to promoting democratic principles and human rights in Venezuela.

However, in the midst of these political and diplomatic discussions, we would like to draw your attention to a crucial aspect that deserves special consideration: the victims of crimes against humanity in Venezuela. As we continue to fight for the restoration of democracy and respect for the rule of law in our country, it is essential that we do not forget those who have suffered injustices and egregious violations of their fundamental rights.

As an organization committed to the well-being and justice for victims of the Venezuelan state and all people affected by the crisis in Venezuela, we kindly ask that support and the search for justice for victims of crimes against him remain in the spotlight. humanity. We urge the European Union to continue advocating for accountability and the protection of human rights in Venezuela as an integral part of its diplomatic and political efforts.

We greatly appreciate your continued commitment to democratic values and human rights in Venezuela, and hope that our combined voices will contribute to promoting a peaceful and just resolution for our nation, as well as ensuring the protection and well-being of all Venezuelans, especially those who have been displaced and affected by the crisis.

For us, citizen participation and the diversity of voices are essential for strengthening democracy and protecting human rights.

Kind regards,
